First's and Last's

Valentine's Day 2009----The past couple of years, Ashley and Jay have joined us for Valentine's Day dinner. Unfortunately, Jay was sick today and rather than risk getting Ashley sick, he chose to stay home. As we sat eating dinner tonight, I realized that for every first that Talan has this year, we will experience our last with Ashley. Today was Talan's first Valentine's Day and our last with Ashley. She told us that since next Valentine's Day will be her first as a married couple, she and Jay will probably celebrate it, (understandably) just the two of them. Talan will celebrate his first birthday in a little over a month, and Ashley will be celebrating her last birthday as our single daughter. Talan's first Easter will be Ashley's last at home. Everyday is a series of beginnings and endings. And from our endings come new beginnings.
