Its been a few weeks since I've had a "tear jerker" blog, so here we go..........
When Joanna was in the 5th grade at Florence Hill Elementary School, one of the 5th grade parents created a slide show (set to music) of these kids from pictures she had amassed since they all were in kindergarten. "Here in My Heart" was the final song to that 5th grade slide show. By the time this song played and the slide show was done, I don't think there was a dry eye in the school cafeteria. A few of us 5th grade parents loved the slide show and the accompanying songs, so we worked to make it a video so we could get every parent who wanted one a copy. I remember us trying to cue the video recorder, making the recording, having to watch it and redo everything till we got it right (things are so much easier and more hi-tech now). Everytime "Here in My Heart" played we would all cry. I have loved this song since the first time I heard it. It made me cry back then and it still makes me cry when I listen to it. Any mother or father should be able to understand the emotion that this song generates.
Everyone says that things get easier with each child. Potty training, dealing with tantrums, discipline, etc. You learn on the first child and by the last one you should be an expert, right? Well, one thing doesn't get any easier; having to watch your children grow up and leave.
To all of my girls, "I'm anxious to see all you're going to be, But I'm sure going to miss who you are."

The Lyrics to the song are as follows:
I don't want to kiss you good nightClick on this YouTube link to hear Here in My Heart
So I'll just keep on holding you tight'
Cause I know you'll change and you'll grow
You'll get bigger with each morning light
I know that the sky's full of stars
And dreams call your name from afar
I'm anxious to see all you're going to be
But I'm sure going to miss who you are
But I'll keep you right here in my heart
And I'll memorize each little part'
Cause one day you'll grow and I'll miss you so
But I'll keep you right here in my heart
Each tooth that you gain or you lose
And each time you'll need bigger shoes
Each step that you take will be further away
But to stop you is not what I choose.
These fingers that curl round my hand
Must do things that no others can
I know you're not mine, But God's own design
And I want you to follow His plan
But I'll keep you right here in my heart
And I'll memorize each little part'
Cause one day you'll grow and I'll miss you so
But I'll keep you right here in my heart
Cause one day you'll grow and I'll miss you so
But I'll keep you right here in my heart
